PEB Structure Cost Per Kg in India

If you are pricing a PEB structure cost per kg in India, the honest answer is a range, not a single rate. Across the Indian market, pre-engineered steel structures are quoted in roughly the ₹85 to ₹130 per kg band, depending on steel grade, section type, coating and how much fabrication and erection the price includes. SAMAN POS India Private Limited (POS = Portable Office Solutions) prices every structure against your actual drawing, so the figure below is a market guide — share your span and load for a current quote.
This guide breaks down what moves the per-kg number, where IS 2062 structural steel sits against cheaper secondary steel, and why per-kg pricing matters most on large-span work. SAMAN has designed, fabricated and erected steel structures since 2009 (incorporated as SAMAN POS India Private Limited in 2019), from our plants at Gopasandra, Bengaluru 560099 and Jalpura, Greater Noida 201308.
What determines PEB structure cost per kg
A per-kg rate is really five costs bundled into one number. When two quotes differ, it is almost always one of these:
- Steel grade: primary structural steel to IS 2062 costs more than unbranded or secondary steel, but it carries the load you actually designed for.
- Section type: built-up tapered sections (welded plate) versus hot-rolled or light-gauge sections change both steel weight and fabrication hours.
- Fabrication: cutting, welding, drilling and surface prep done in a controlled factory adds cost but removes site rework.
- Coating: a basic primer is cheapest; galvanising or a coat-and-paint system for corrosive or coastal sites costs more per kg.
- Erection: a supply-only rate is lower than a supply-and-erect rate that includes cranes, bolting crews and alignment.
Always confirm which of these a quoted per-kg rate includes. A ₹90/kg supply-only figure and a ₹125/kg supply-and-erect figure can describe the same building.
IS 2062 structural steel vs secondary steel
The biggest hidden swing in any pre-engineered steel building quote is the steel itself. IS 2062 is the Indian standard for hot-rolled structural steel — it has a guaranteed yield strength and chemistry, so the section you design is the section you get. Secondary or re-rolled steel is cheaper per kg but its real strength is uncertain, which means a structure built to a load on paper may not carry it in practice.
SAMAN fabricates to IS 2062 grade steel. On a column-and-rafter frame, paying a little more per kg for certified steel is usually cheaper over the life of the building than re-strengthening a frame that was under-specified to win on rate.
Why per-kg pricing matters for large-span structures
On a small shed, the per-kg rate barely moves the total. On a wide clear-span warehouse or factory, steel tonnage is the single largest line item, so a few rupees per kg multiplied across tonnes of steel decides the budget. This is why large-span buyers price by per-kg rate and total tonnage together, not by per-sq-ft alone.
As a cross-check, the Indian market also quotes finished PEB work at roughly ₹300 to ₹600 per sq ft for frame, cladding and basic fittings, with steel weight typically 3 to 6 kg per sq ft. The two views — per kg and per sq ft — should reconcile on a real drawing; if they do not, a quote is hiding either steel weight or scope.
How SAMAN designs, fabricates and erects
SAMAN is a direct manufacturer, not a reseller. PEB construction with us runs as one chain: structures are designed in-house to your span, load and site; fabricated at our factory from IS 2062 steel under ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001 systems; then delivered and erected on your prepared foundation. Buying from the team that cuts the steel removes the middle margin and the guesswork on tonnage.
Behind the work: 500+ projects delivered across India, with NSIC and DPIIT (Startup India) recognition, and two manufacturing locations — Bengaluru 560099 and Greater Noida 201308 — for dispatch across South and North India. FAQs: PEB structure cost per kg in India
What is the PEB structure cost per kg in India?
Across the Indian market it is roughly ₹85 to ₹130 per kg, depending on steel grade, section type, coating and whether erection is included. SAMAN prices each structure to your drawing rather than a flat rate — share your span and load for a current figure.
Why do per-kg quotes vary so much?
Because they bundle different things. A supply-only primer-coated rate is far lower than a supply-and-erect, galvanised rate for the same frame. Always check what the rate includes.
Is IS 2062 steel worth the higher per-kg cost?
For a load-bearing frame, yes. IS 2062 gives a guaranteed yield strength, so the structure carries the load it was designed for. Secondary steel is cheaper per kg but its real strength is uncertain.
How does per-kg cost relate to per-sq-ft cost?
Steel weight is usually 3 to 6 kg per sq ft, and finished PEB work runs about ₹300 to ₹600 per sq ft in the market. The per-kg rate times the tonnage should reconcile with the per-sq-ft figure on a real drawing.
Does SAMAN supply only, or also erect?
Both. We can quote supply-only or supply-and-erect. The scope changes the per-kg rate, so we state it clearly on the quote.
What warranty applies to a SAMAN PEB structure?
5 years structural frame and base + 1–2 years finishing + 20–25 years engineered service life.
Where does SAMAN fabricate and dispatch from?
From our plants at Gopasandra, Bengaluru 560099 and Jalpura, Greater Noida 201308, serving projects across India.
