Detailed information about Modular Shipping Container Office
Modular Shipping Container Office — Stacked Multi-Unit Office Complexes for Large Project Sites
When a single container office does not give you enough floor area — and your site cannot spread horizontally — you stack. A modular shipping container office is what we deliver for projects needing 600 to 2,000 sq ft of office space on the footprint of one or two containers.
Why Buyers Stack — When One Container Is Not Enough Floor Area

Ground-level reception inside a 2-unit stacked container office — staircase to the upper level visible at the back wall.
A port operator allotted a 320 sq ft footprint inside a working terminal needs 600 sq ft of office for operations and supervisor space. A 2-level stack on the same footprint delivers it without giving up berth or yard area.
An infrastructure project headquarters with 12 to 15 engineers needs workstations, a meeting room, and a project director's office on a contained footprint — keeping storage, parking, and equipment areas usable.
For a single-unit baseline, see our shipping container office page. For ground-level horizontal expansion, see our modular container office page.
Stacking Configurations We Build
2-unit stacked — 20-ft over 20-ft, or 40-ft over 40-ft. Doubles floor area on the same footprint. The most common multi-unit order we deliver.
4-unit stacked (2×2) — Two ground-level units side-by-side with two upper-level units stacked on top. Typical for project headquarters needing 1,200 to 1,600 sq ft.
L-shape stacked — Two ground-level units in an L-formation with one upper-level unit at the corner. Useful for irregular site allotments.
Hybrid — A 2-level stacked core plus a single-level adjacent unit as reception, meeting block, or kitchenette.

Open engineering work area on the ground floor — typical layout for an infrastructure project HQ housing 12 to 15 engineers.
Every configuration above involves vertical stacking. Pure ground-level setups are a different product.
Foundation, Stacking Load, and Structural Interconnection
Stacking needs more than the four-corner support a single unit requires.
A reinforced concrete pad — 150mm depth minimum, M20 grade — must be cast across the full stacked footprint. We supply the foundation drawing with your order; your civil contractor casts to that drawing.
A fully fitted 40-ft container office weighs 12 to 15 tons. Stacked, that load distributes through four ISO corner castings into the lower unit's corner posts and onward into the pad.

Conference room on the ground level — sized for 8 with display, glass partition, and corridor access.
Twist-locks and stack-frame plates connect upper to lower at all four corners during erection. A galvanised MS external staircase is included on every stacked configuration.
Multi-Level Layout Planning — Ground Floor vs Upper Floor
Ground level typically holds reception, open work area, meeting room, washroom, and kitchenette — high-traffic functions where movement is easiest. Upper level holds senior management offices, server or network room, and quiet review zones.

External staircase — galvanised MS, included as standard on every stacked configuration.
Washroom default is ground level; an upper-level toilet adds plumbing riser cost and is offered when floor area justifies it. The electrical riser runs through a corner cut as galvanised conduit. Split AC per level is standard; central HVAC available on request.
Erection at Site — How a Stacked Complex Comes Together
A 40-ton telescopic crane is required for placement of fitted 40-ft units. You arrange crane access; we coordinate the lift sequence.
Standard sequence: foundation cured → ground-level units placed and levelled → upper-level units placed and structurally interconnected → external staircase fitted → electrical riser commissioned → site walk-through and handover.

Upper-level executive office — quiet zone above the open ground floor, suited to project director and senior management use.
Erection time at site: 3 to 7 working days for 2-unit stacked; 5 to 10 days for 4-unit. Pan India erection by our own Bangalore or Greater Noida team — not sub-contracted.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the maximum stack height SAMAN supplies?
2-level is standard. 3-level is available after engineering review and site survey. Beyond 3-level, we recommend a steel-frame structure rather than stacked containers.
How are wind load and seismic conditions handled?
Designed for IS 875 wind load and IS 1893 seismic compliance for zones 2 and 3 by default. For zones 4 and 5, structural review and additional bracing are included in the quote.
Can a stacked complex be dismantled and relocated?
Yes. Interconnection is released, each unit is crane-lifted separately, and the complex is re-erected at the new location.
How is electrical and HVAC distribution managed across two levels?
Utility entry at ground level, riser conduit through an ISO corner cut, separate distribution panel and MCBs on each level, split AC per level.
